The Sun Egg – a fairy tale by Elsa Beskow
About the performance
Elsa Beskow's fairy tale Solägget is a story about a little fairy who likes to dance. In the spring she dances the welcome sun dance, in the autumn she dances the whirling yellow leaf dance and in the winter the fall white snow dance. One day the fairy finds something big and yellow in the moss, she thinks it is the sun that has dropped its egg!
Elsa Beskow's 150th birthday was celebrated in 2024 and Solägget is one of her most timeless fairy tales! Elsa Beskow was born on February 11, 1874 in Stockholm and is one of our most beloved classic children's book creators. She both wrote and illustrated, and her pictures dominated picture book art for almost 50 years. The book Solägget was published in 1932 but is still relevant today. Through an innovative dance performance for the whole family, combining contemporary dance, newly written music and live performance featuring singing and piano by the artist Mohlavyr, the Rosea Dans ensemble pays tribute to her wonderful literary work.
